Welcome to CARE Luxembourg’s English mini-website. Hereafter we have outlined all essential information about CARE and our humanitarian work. If this page doesn’t provide the answers to your questions, please check out our French main-page or contact our team directly.
We will be happy to answer all your questions by phone and email and we’re ready to assist you when it comes to choosing or developing your personal social or philanthropic endeavour.
After World War II, the original CARE-Package harnessed the power of generosity in a box. 100 million CARE packages of food, clothing or tools were delivered to vulnerable families in Europe. In Luxembourg too, numerous CARE-Packages were distributed to orphanages, children's homes and poor families.
80 years later, the CARE Package has evolved. Today, CARE powers change in new, lasting ways for the people who need it most.
Today, CARE is a global network and a leading relief organization. In 2023, CARE worked in 109 countries around the world, implementing 1.671 poverty-fighting development and humanitarian aid projects, to reach more than 166 million people directly.
In the great humanitarian tragedies of our time, wars, natural disasters, refugee crises, CARE is one of the first aid organizations on the ground. CARE continues to support people, even when the media turn their attention towards new events. Our colleagues stay with the most vulnerable families and communities to strengthen them in the long term and to better prepare them for future crises.
Our CARE-Projects funded by the Luxembourgish Government and the generous support of our private donors, companies, associations, service clubs, municipalities and foundations focus on rapid relief in sudden onset disasters, support for most vulnerable groups in complex emergencies, conflicts and refugee crises and long term support for the poorest groups in extremely remote areas!
In all our projects we reach out to pregnant women, young mothers, new-borns and young children to make sure they have access to the medical support and quality nutrition they need to survive and to recover. We also aim to make sure that they can rely on a strong family and community.
In 2022, the Luxembourgish CARE organization alone reached 293.004 people in need.
Our donors and partners can rightly be proud of that!
During the first 1,000 days of a child's life, the brain develops rapidly. During this critical period, malnutrition and severe psychological stress can have lifelong consequences for children. CARE Luxembourg is dedicated to the protection of pregnant women, newborns and their mothers.
Our CARE helpers empower mothers so that they can feed their children well in the long term. In our long-term projects in Niger, Myanmar and Laos, we are expanding access to healthcare for pregnant women, we train midwives and help mothers to protect their children from hunger from the first day of their pregnancy. In 2019, this help from Luxembourg reached 39,716 pregnant women, young mothers and newborns in need.
Your support directly contributes to the success of these projects. If you wish to help, please find below different examples of donations that can significantly improve people's lives.
You can also become a regular donor. Our program Donateur de Coeur protects and defends girls' rights, especially during armed conflicts or in remote areas. Girls are the first victims during disasters. Please go to our dedicated page Donateur de Coeur - English to learn more about the protection of girls' rights, and the ways in which you can help.
Thank you very much!

Year after year, CARE Luxembourg makes a great effort to ensure that your donations make a great and effective difference in our humanitarian work. At the same time, it is very important to us to confirm and demonstrate this to you in a transparent manner.
For this purpose, we work intensely with the Luxembourgish organisation "Don en Confiance a.s.b.l." (donation in trust). Additionally, the regular and independent oversight of our organisation by recognized auditors and the internal and external expenditure controls of our projects also ensure that all actors who come in contact with our Luxembourgish aid are thoroughly reviewed.
Each donation is an individual decision. It makes no difference whether you support CARE with a single or a regular donation, or whether you donate 5 euros or 5,000 euros. You have the right to know exactly what is happening with your money. We are happy to help you find your personal project.
Time and again we are contacted by donors who want to celebrate their birthday, their retirement, the birth of their child or the victory against a terrible disease. We also gladly help families honour the loss of a beloved person through a CARE donation appeal.
Do you have questions or want to implement your personal project? We are happy to assist you! It is your help.
